Underbite Treatment
An underbite happens when the lower front teeth sit in front of the upper front teeth. Addressing an underbite early—ideally as young as age 6—is important because a child’s jawbone is still developing and more responsive to treatment. Early intervention can greatly decrease the chances of needing surgery later on. Using the natural growth phases allows us to guide the jaw’s development, preventing the facial changes and premature aging that can result from an untreated underbite.
Our dental team focuses on achieving overall facial harmony, carefully considering both the smile and the surrounding muscles. If an underbite is not managed in childhood, treatments become more complicated and may ultimately require jaw surgery. However, it’s never too late to seek help. With a combination of patient cooperation and expert care, we strive to deliver excellent results and the healthiest smile possible—often without the need for surgical intervention.
